Anderson .Paak LA Leakers Freestyle Video

Anderson .Paak’s ascension into the Hip-Hop limelight is well documented, as icons including Dr. Dre, not only co-sign his work, but have literally taken the Southern California singer, MC, drummer, and producer under his wing to executive produce his forthcoming album, Oxnard, set to release November 16.

In preparation of the album drop, .Paak has kept his name abuzz with over-the-top, cinematic music videos from the project, a la the Kendrick Lamar assisted jawn, “Tints,” and the lavish and extravagant “Bubblin.” Additionally, .Paak has been killing it on stage as well, as duly noted by recent performances with Robert Glasper and Yasiin Bey at the Blue Note in New York City and as a guest artist for Mac Miller’s Celebration Of Life event at the Greek Theater this past Halloween.

While .Paak’s singing and songwriting abilities are apparent throughout his discography, both as .Paak, one-half of NxWorries, and Breezy LoveJoy, it’s his abilities as an MC that slides a bit under the radar, but catapults his stock as an artist as a whole. This past summer, .Paak kicked a freestyle as a guest on Sway Calloway’s Sway In The Morning segment on Shade 45, and arguably his most memorable freestyle can be found on the cypher stage with Desiigner and Lil Dicky from XXL‘s 2016 Freshman Class series.

With just about a week to go before his third studio album under the Anderson .Paak moniker rolls out, .Paak hit the booth with DJ Sourmilk and Justin Credible of the LA Leakers to rip an all-new freestyle for Heads to nod to. Spitting over Junior M.A.F.I.A. and Biggie’s “Get Money” instrumental, .Paak provides the sauce, the juice, and the swagger of a seasoned veteran. Throughout, .Paak spins braggadocious quips and tales of the come up, intertwined with a bit of self-deprecation as he pokes fun at his aforementioned XXL freestyle, and pays homage to his late friend and collaborator, Mac Miller.

We was praying for some bad weather / Keep our pockets flooded / This is way before the hurricane / But we could see it coming / How much for a brick / If I flip / Lately I been wonderin’ / Go to hell or get a job / F*ck you ni**as buggin’ / I was made to beat the odds / Something outta nothin’ / You afraid to take a loss / I lost my older brother, sister, father, auntie, cousin / I got nothin’ left but y’all,” raps the Aftermath multi-talent.

Be sure to cop Anderson .Paak’s, Oxnard, November 16 with features from J. Cole, Snoop Dogg, Pusha T, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, and Q-Tip.
